Pyemia - some of the patients at L'Hopital des Anges suffer from pyemia (DIA, chapter 12) Pyemia is a form of septicemia caused by staphylococcus bacteria which lead to abscesses which spread. Pyemia was almost always fatal before antibiotics

Scabies - some of the patients at L'Hopital des Anges suffer from scabies (DIA, chapter 12) Scabies is a contagious skin infection caused by a tiny parasite which burrows under the skin causing an allergic reaction and severe itching
Scrofula - some of the patients at L'Hopital des Anges suffer from scrofula (DIA, chapter 12) Scrofula refers to swollen lymph nodes in the neck, usually caused by an infection leading to a large mass in the neck. In the 18th century tuberculosis was the most common cause of scrofula and was usually accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, chills and weight loss.
